On September 21, Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Quang Ngai province launched the ” To make the World Cleaner” campaign in 2014 with the theme of “Take action for the environment without waste“.
Mr. Le Van Sau, Vice Chairman of Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, representatives of departments, businesses and numerous youths attended the event.
Currently, the process of strong industrialization and modernization in Quang Ngai has discharged a large amount of solid waste in industry, agriculture and lives, medical waste, hazardous waste, etc…. The collection, treatment and disposal of this waste become a difficult problem for management agencies and local government.
Up to now, the percentage of solid waste treatment in industrial areas, rural areas and urban centers in Quang Ngai province reaches 72% only.
After the ceremony, the youths cleaned the environment and collected waste at My Khe beach.
To make the world cleaner campaign was adapted globally by the United Nations Environmental Programme after its founding in Australia in 1993.
