(CPV) – Visiting strawberry gardens and picking strawberries is becoming an attractive tourist activity for domestic and foreign tourists in Da Lat, Lam Dong province. Over the past time, not only tourism agents but also owners of strawberry gardens have invested in the new type of tourism, contributing to make tourism activities in Da Lat more diverse.
Many clean strawberry gardens have appeared in Da Lat, such as Le Phuong strawberry garden or strawberry garden of Mr. Vuong Dinh Phi. Mr. Phi’s strawberry garden is the first one in Da Lat to permit tourists to visit and pick their own fruit. In the door of the garden, he hangs a board providing information about opening hours, ticket prices and notes for visitors. The garden is about 3,000 square meters and uses modern cultivating techniques. This innovative technique places less strain on the mineral resources in the soil by keeping the plants on a framework about one meter above the ground. The watering is automatic and no chemicals or pesticides are employed to assist growth or preservation. The organic fruit can be eaten immediately upon picking. The model has provided the impetus for other local farmers and even tourist agents to invest and develop new gardens. Within the tourist area of Than Tho lake, the ecological strawberry garden of the BioFresh company has become a new destination of tourists. The company has developed their green-house garden to European standards with seedlings from France, frames from Germany and fertilizes from the Netherlands. Similarly, the management unit of the Love valley has also invested in a strawberry garden to serve visitors. To create a link to the new tourist product, a railway system with the route starting from the entrance of the area to the strawberry garden has been installed. “This is the first time I have come here but I found it interesting. I not only pick and buy fresh and clean strawberry to take home, but also now understand the meticulous process of cultivating strawberry by farmers in Da Lat. The fresh jams are also delicious here,” a visitor from Ho Chi Minh city shared. With the friendly production model, strawberry gardens not only bring economic benefits to growers but also contribute to tourism development in the province. According to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the service of visiting and experiencing in strawberry garden has gradually formed a new tourism product, farming tourism of Da Lat, which is favourited by domestic and foreign tourists. “In fact, the model still has some shortcomings in infrastructure, such as parking for visitors and weak promotion by tourist vendors. In the coming time, we will support owners of gardens to overcome their limitations and help them in their continued expansion and also the farming tourism in neighboring regions of Lac Duong and Don Duong with flower and vegetable garden models of all kinds,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism./. |
