Over 1 million poor people to receive free medical check-up

As per the community healthcare and charity treatment campaign, around 1 million people in the country will have free-of-charge medical check-up.


The news was released at a press conference held by the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS) and the Ministry of Health, General Political Department of the People’s Army and the Young Physician Association in Hanoi on October 30. The organizers announced the campaign 2014 themed “Joining hand for the community health”.


It will last to February 15, 2015.


Nguyen Hai Duong, chairman of VRCS, said that the campaign is the biggest one of its kind so far, presenting the participation of the four organizations.



Mr. Duong stressed that the campaign is only carried out successfully with the careful plan and the support of benefactors.


As per the plan, the organizers will launch the campaign in Hanoi on November 2. Eight medical worker teams will arrive in eight northern provinces of Lang Son, Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa, Lai Chau, Cao Bang, Son La and Phu Tho.


At the same time, medical workers in 17 other provinces will also come to all provinces to implement the campaign.


Prudential Insurance Company will accompany with the campaign. Staffs of Prudential Insurance Company will donate around 5,000 blood units and distribute free medicines to 7,000 needy people. The company will also support a part of treatment cost for those who suffer serious disease in district hospitals and supply 1,600 food servings to disadvantaged patients in local hospitals.
