PM greets former Japanese PM

HA NOI (VNS) – Viet Nam would take maximum effort to deepen the bilateral strategic partnership with Japan, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung told former Japanese PM Yukio Hatoyama at a reception in Ha Noi yesterday.


The Vietnamese leader welcomed the guest on a visit to attend the summit of the 2014 Asian-Oceania Computing Industry Organisation (ASOCIO) on information and communication technology (ICT).


Dung said Viet Nam considered ICT as an innovative approach to increasing productivity, competitiveness and State management efficiency.



He said the country was also keen to apply ICT in the agricultural and fisheries sectors to enhance competitiveness and contribute to the global value chain.


The Prime Minister hailed Hatoyama’s contributions to the friendship and co-operation between the two countries, and suggested Japan provide more support in rice cultivation and aquaculture in the Mekong Delta.


Hatoyama vowed to push co-operative ties in all areas. He also shared his experience in applying ICT in agriculture and announced that Japanese businesses would visit Viet Nam next year to explore co-operation opportunities in this field.


The same day, Politburo member and Chairman of the Viet Nam-Japan Friendship Parliamentary Group, To Huy Rua, hosted a reception for the former Japanese PM. – VNS
