Earlier this week, a learner driver in Dak Lak province crashed her seven-seater car into a busy market, killing two people and injured eight others.
The woman driving the car had just received her driver license two days before the accident, according to a report.
In a country where about 10,000 people are killed in traffic accidents every year, the accident sparked serious concerns about the quality of driving schools.
In many countries, learner drivers must adhere to strict requirements, even after receiving their driver licenses. Examples include driving in a car for a certain period of time with more experienced drivers, or not driving late at night. That’s not the case in Viet Nam.
