Thanh Dong’s 210th foundation anniversary celebrated

The Hai Duong Municipal Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee on October 30 morning solemnly celebrate the 210th anniversary of Thanh Dong’s foundation and the 60th years of Hai Duong city’s liberation and having great honour to welcome a 2nd-class Independence Order.


In attendance were Mr. Truong Tan Sang, Politburo Member, State President; former Politburo Members Vu Oanh and Nguyen Thi Xuan My; former Members of the Central Party Committee Nguyen Duc Kien, Pham Van Tho, Nguyen Van Chien, and Nguyen Hong Quan; representatives of leaders of the Association of Cities of Vietnam and member cities; and delegates of Regiment 42’s Liaison Board and the Associations of Hai Duong Fellow-countrymen in Ha Noi and Hai Phong.

Attendees from Hai Duong province at the ceremony included Mr. Bui Thanh Quyen, Member of the Central Party Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council, Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies; Mr. Vu Van Son, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Manh Hien, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; members of the Standing Boards of the Provincial Party Committee and People’s Council, leaders of the Provincial People’s Committee, and the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies; former provincial leaders in different periods; leaders of provincial departments and unions; leaders of the provincial districts and town; representatives of people from all walks of life and those with services to the revolution in Hai Duong city.

Opening the ceremony was a special art program praising the land and people of the Eastern province in general and Hai Duong city in particular.

Then, on behalf of the municipal leaders and people, Mr. Pham The Tap, Member of the Provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, delivered a commemorative speech reviewing the city’s glorious traditions since Thanh Dong’s foundation.


The speech clearly stated that in the national renewal process, Hai Duong city had united, strived, overcome all difficulties and challenges, and obtained a lot of great achievements in various fields, including economic thriving, much progress in culture and society, improvement of the people’s lives, etc. Hai Duong is a 2nd-grade city with an important role in the Northern key economic region and currently endeavoring to become a 1st-grade city before 2020.

Next, Mr. Nguyen Manh Khac, former Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, former Secretary of the Hai Duong Town Party Committee, spoke on behalf of key leaders of Hai Duong city in different periods to express their pride in the heroic tradition and their joy over the achievements of the city.

Representing the city’s younger generation, Ms. Nguyen Dieu Linh, Youth Union Secretary of Hong Quang Senior High School, stated the younger generation’s determination to devote their strength to the construction of a prosperous and strong city.

At the ceremony, State President Truong Tan Sang awarded the 2nd-class Independence Order to representatives of the municipal leaders and the people for their exceptionally outstanding achievements in their work, contributing to socialism building and national defense.


Addressing the ceremony, State President Truong Tan Sang acknowledged and hailed Hai Duong city’s achievements over the past time and, at the same time, indicated important tasks in need of the city’s execution in the coming time.

In his speech at the ceremony, Mr. Bui Thanh Quyen, Member of the Central Party Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council, Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies, affirmed that at any revolutionary stage, Hai Duong city residents had always upheld their resilient and unyielding traditions in fighting, work, construction, and national defense.
