Concerned citizens arrest iPhone snatcher in Pham Ngu Lao

Ho Chi Minh City residents arrested a Vietnamese man who snatched a mobile phone from a British tourist and handed him over to police in the backpacker ward, news website Dan Tri reported.


At around 2pm, on Friday, Nguyen Van Loc, 24, spotted Lauren Robson, 22, sitting on the sidewalk of 23.9 Park in District 1.


He approached her and grabbed an iPhone 5 out of her hands before fleeing the scene on his motorbike.


Hearing Robson’s screams for help, Pham Trong Nghia, 25, and Nguyen Tan Tai, 26, gave chase.


The two good samaritan’s pursued Loc to Pham Ngu Lao Street, where they managed to stop his bike. Nearby residents helped the pair apprehend Loc and turn him over to the Pham Ngu Lao Ward Police.


The police returned the stolen phone to Robson.
