A pile of gunpowder suddenly exploded on Friday afternoon, severely injuring four local men in the central highland province of Dak Lak.
Doctors at the provincial hospital said that the men remain in critical conditions with multiple injuries.
Two underwent operations to have a number of broken bones re-set.
The group of men, aged from 24 to 35, were gathered at the home of a friend in Krong No district processing an unknown amount of gunpowder when it spontaneously exploded.
The impact of the blast crushed many parts of the patients’ bodies.
Krong No police say an investigation into the case is ongoing.
