PANO – The Vietnam Veterans’ Association on November 7th handed over 1,260 scholarships, worth VND 1 million each, to needy students with good academic records across the country.
The money came from the association’s Study Encouragement Scholarship Foundation.
At the ceremony, Lieutenant General Phung Khac Dang, Deputy Head of the association and Head of the Foundation, emphasized that the recipients include children of veterans and former servicemen facing economic adversity across the country.
The scholarships are to encourage them to strive for better academic records and they then would make a bigger contribution to the national development in the future.
The foundation has so far presented scholarships valued at over VND 2.4 billion to poor but oustanding students.
On the occasion, two businesses and a family contributed VND 910 million to the foundation.
