Only by connecting tourist routes and destinations to create attractive and distinctive tourism products of the region to form cultural heritage itineraries and complete tourism tours to serve a variety of tourists can Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen, Quang Ninh and Hai Duong provinces fully tap their tourism potential. Giang Tu reports.Could you tell us the reasons why four northeast provinces of Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang, Hai Duong and Quang Ninh need to unite?

Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang, Hai Duong and Quang Ninh provinces have rich potential for diverse tourism development. With their geographical positions and relatively favourable distances along National Road 37, tourists can travel amongst tourist destinations like Dinh Hoa Wartime Safe Zone and Nui Coc Lake in Thai Nguyen; Hiep Hoa Wartime Safe Zone and Bo Da Pagoda; ancient villages along the northern bank of the Cau River; or from Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, Suoi Mo eco-tourism site, Khuon Than Lake, Cam Son, Khe Ro primeval forest, Ban Mau, Dong Thong area in West Yen Tu tourist route to East Yen Tu tourist route, Quang Ninh province or Con Son – Kiep Bac relic, Chi Lang Stork Island, Chu Dau Pottery, Hai Duong province.

Tourism potential of these provinces is distinctive but they can hardly keep tourists because of small tourist spots and insufficient services. Besides, human resources and budgets for tourism development remain low, resulting in a strong demand for uniting four provinces to address some weaknesses, particularly in tourist product development planning. Each province will develop its own characteristic products, link its products with others, and support each other in human resources training and tourism promotion. We believe that the connection will fill existing gaps and provide favourable conditions for tourism development of joining provinces.

How should these provinces unite to make development breakthroughs?

Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen, Hai Duong and Quang Ninh provinces should develop their own particular tourism products, link their destinations, speed up joint tourism promotion, and support each other with human resources training.

Besides, they need to invest, build and develop various tourism products to attract domestic and foreign investors and strengthen tourism promotion. This is an important, necessary step to introduce and attract domestic and foreign tourists to the provinces; cooperate in human resource training development, and work with each other in tourism development planning.

The four provinces recently met and agreed on cooperation contents for the upcoming time. Would you mind talking about this?

Four provincial leaders signed an agreement on tourism development cooperation. Accordingly, the four provinces will regularly report and exchange experience in State tourism management and encourage tourism firms to locate branches and representative offices in their localities.

Besides, the four provinces will focus on linking tourism product and route development; cooperate in building tourism products for joint tourist routes, with a focus on developing locally distinctive tourism products, to draw domestic and foreign travellers; support and coordinate with travel firms to survey tourist sites and connect with them with other localities.

In addition, the provinces will coordinate each other to attract tourism investors, advertise local tourism and expand the market. They will join hands to advertise joint tourism products and destinations to domestic and international markets; cooperate in human resource training development; coordinate in professional tourism and management training and tourism quality improvement.

How will the provinces support travel firms to successful operate four-point tours?

The provinces agreed to create favourable conditions for tourism businesses to set up branches and representative offices; intensify surveys and tourism business exchanges to enhance knowledge, experience and information exchange so as to improve product and service quality; coordinate in organising famtrip delegations in domestic and foreign markets to survey demands and introduce products; and provide the most favourable conditions for tourism firms to access tourism development investment projects.

Hai Duong will create the most favourable conditions in administrative procedures for travel businesses from other provinces to establish a branches and representative offices in the province; and provide sufficient information about investment projects, destinations and related issues. For local businesses, the province will organise delegations for them to study market expansion.
