Survivor of Mi-171 helicopter crash recovers

PANO – Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien on November 7th visited Senior Sub-lieutenant Dinh Van Duong, the only officer surviving from Mi-171 helicopter crash on July 7th in Hanoi’s suburban district of Thach That. He is under treatment at Le Huu Trac National Institute of Burns.

According to the minister, the officer’s recovery is good news for both his family and the health sector, the army and people. She highly appreciated the joint efforts to save the patient of the hospital, Military Hospital 103, Central Military Hospital 108, the Bach Mai Hospital, the Vietnam-Germany Hospital and the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.



Major General Nguyen Gia Tien, Director of Le Huu Trac National Institute of Burns, said that it is a miracle that Duong has recovered from heavy injuries and a deep coma. The general also stressed that it was a success of the health sector and the result of the military-civilian medicine programme.


Senior Lieutenant Dinh Van Duong will continue to be treated and hopefully he could soon resume his daily life.


On the occasion, the health minister presented merit certificates to groups and individuals who have whole-heartedly cured the patient over the past four months.
