Head coach of the Thai national football squad, Mr Kiatisuk Senamuang, announced the roster for the upcoming AFF Cup, including new young faces. After a 2-0 victory over New Zealand in the friendly match in Bangkok last night, the 22-member squad has been finalized. Thailand’s former, captain and most-capped player, 41, just agreed two goalkeepers, Kawin Thamasatchanan and Chanin Sae-Eae to play in the prestigious Southeast Asian tournament, co-hosted by Singapore and Vietnam from November 22nd to December 20th. Three half-backs, Kroekrit Taweekarn, Pokklaw Anan, and Pinyo Inpinit were surprisingly dropped from the squad at the very last minute. Senamuang played 131 times for his country, scored a national record 70 goals and lifted the Suzuki Cup three times. Meanwhile, the new emerging faces over the last year in the Thai team are young players such as Charyl Chappuis, Adisak Kraisorn and goalie Kawin Thamasatchanan. All demonstrated excellent skills and turned in worthy performances during the 27th SEA Games and ASIAD 17. There is no place for veterans like goalie Kosin Hathairattanakool, half-back Datsakorn Thonglao or perfect teamwork strikers Teeratep Winothai and Teerasil Dangda. Drawn in Group B, the Thai footballers will begin their tour in the competition playing co-hosts and defending champions Singapore, on November 23rd. The full squad is as follows: Goalie (two): Kawin Thamasatchanan (Muang Thong), Chanin Sae-Eae (Singhtarua) Fullback (eight): Chayaphan Kitponsrithada, Peerapat Notechaiya, Naruebodin Weerawatnodom, Adisorn Promrak, Thanaboon Ketsarat (BEC Tero), Arthit Daosawang (Muang Thong), Suthinan Phukhom (Chonburi), Praweenawat Boonyong (Bangkok Glass) Half-back (eight): Adul Lasoh,(Chonburi), Sarach Yooyen, Sarawut Masuk (Muang Thong), Charyl Chappuis (Suphanburi), Prakit Deeprom (TOT SC), Chanathip Songkrasin (BEC Tero), Mongkol Totsakrai (Army United), Nurl Sriyamkem (Chonburi) Striker (four): Chainarong Tathong (Army United), Sompong Soleb (Bangkok United), Adisak Kraisorn (Buriram United), Kirati Kaewsombut (PTT Rayong)./. |
