Pham Anh Khoa, 30, and Tran Thi Thuy Trang, 24, were the two representatives of Vietnam partaking in a three-day summit on entrepreneurship in Morocco earlier this week.

The annual Global Entrepreneurship Summit Youth – GES Youth 2014 lasted from November 19 to 21 in Marrakech, giving participants a chance to exchange business experience and connect with reputable professors, diplomats, entrepreneurs, and investors worldwide.

Khoa and Trang were selected to represent Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, respectively.

Khoa is currently director of the Yola Institute, an educational service provider in Vietnam, as well as co-founder of VietAbroader, a student-run, nonprofit organization that provides Vietnamese students with training and guidance to encourage them to study abroad, especially in the U.S.

Trang is founder and director of Domino Vietnam, which is also an educational service provider. She once received the Australian Prime Minister’s certificate of merit and was one of eight U.S. alumni to meet former U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton.

Both studied in the U.S. on full scholarships and were honored with several major academic awards.

The main guest speaker of this year’s summit was Joe Biden, U.S. Vice President, with others being ministers from both the U.S. and Morocco.

The GES is the leading U.S. government-supported forum for promoting economic growth through entrepreneurship. President Obama launched the GES in Washington, D.C. in 2010 to connect entrepreneurs, banks, venture capitalists, investors, and others to catalyze partnerships, encourage growth, and strengthen ties.

In 2011, the second GES was held in Istanbul, Turkey, under the sponsorship of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, bringing together thousands from around the Middle East, South Asia, and the U.S.
