(Cinet)- On the morning of December 28, in Hanoi, Vietnam Publishing Association organized 9th Vietnam Book Awards 2013. Mr. Dinh The Huynh, member of the Politburo, head of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) Commission for Communication and Education attended the ceremony.

For more than 60 years, Vietnam’s publishing industry has undergone significant development, with beautifully designed publications featuring a wide range of content distributed to every part of the country in order to enhance the cultural lives of the people.


The 2013 Vietnam Book Awards drew 328 entries from 37 publishing houses from across the country, competing in two categories – books with good content and books with good design.


After three rounds, the jury panel elected to award prizes to 56 books for their excellent content and to 40 more for their fine designs. Also included are documents from the two Parties and States and sections detailing significant events in their relations.


The book collection A History of the Special Relationship between Vietnam and Laos (1930-2007)has received the special prize at the 9th Vietnam Book Awards. Former Government Border Committee Head Dr Tran Cong Truc’s “Traces of Vietnam in the East Sea”, a work written with Dr Nguyen Nha, won the silver prize. The book documents the substantial evidence indicating early traces of a Vietnamese presence in the East Sea, enlightening the reading public and affirming Vietnam’s valid defence of its maritime sovereignty.


Addressing at the ceremony, Politburo member Dinh The Huynh, head of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) Commission for Communication and Education said that this book set possesses great value in promoting and strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries.
