A local man in the southern province of Tien Giang refuses to sell his turtle, which he’s raised in his house since 2008, to people he claims have offered him as much as US$15,000.
The two-kilo turtle has a small shell that doesn’t cover its entire body and is covered scores of tiny bow-shaped scales.
The turtle’s four legs are covered in pink speckles.
Vo Minh Tuan, the turtle’s owner, said he bought the animal from another local man for VND7 million ($348) in 2008.
Many locals have since visited his house to see the odd creature and offered high prices for it.
“Some even offered me VND300 million (nearly $15,000), but I refused them all,” Tuan told Thanh Nien newspaper.
“I believe turtles are holy creatures that brings luck and longevity to their owners, so I will still keep my lucky turtle no matter what [they] offer me.”
