Many Vietnamese and Asian records were recognized during a convocation of record holders/breakers organized in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday.
The Vietnam Record Association’s 29th Convocation was attended by around a hundred record holders from Vietnam, India, Cambodia, and Laos.
At the event, the U.K.-based World Records University conferred their honorary doctorate degrees on seven individuals for their outstanding exploits.
Among the conferees was veteran composer Vu Dinh An, who earned the honor for conducting two choirs singing “Truyen Kieu” (Kieu’s Tale) and Luc Van Tien – two of the country’s classic poetic works.
An’s choirs were then recognized as having the longest-performing duration.
The second Vietnamese conferee was Duong Duy Lam Vien – CEO of the Vietnam Book of Records (Vietkings) – for his project, “Creating 25 Copyrights for the Quest of Promoting Vietnamese Values to the World.”
The gathering also saw the recognition of extraordinary Vietnamese feats by the India-based Asia Book of Records.
The new Asian record recipients included local company Binh Tay Food Co. with its largest Buddhist flag made from steamed glutinous rice; Huynh Van Rang acknowledged as the oldest man who has conquered Fansipan – the highest in Indochina – for four times; Han Tan Quang who has the largest collection of weird-looking stamps; and Nguyen Xuan Hoa honored for his largest Buddhist statue crafted from “nu nghien” – a kind of rare wood.
The organizer also recognized 39 new Vietnamese records for exploits in such areas as books, photography, martial arts, and medicine.
The new records have raised the total number of Vietnamese records to 1,630 so far.
