NDO – An arts exchange was held in Ho Chi Minh City on December 5 with the participation of 70 outstanding maritime officers and soldiers.

The guests, coming from the Vietnam People’s Navy, the Vietnam coast guard and fisheries surveillance forces, have used their courage, talent and creativity of the youth to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty over its seas and islands.

Many of them directly took part in Vietnam’s struggle against China’s illegal placement of the oil rig Haiyang Shiyou-981 within Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.

At the event, the soldiers shared their memories and difficulties at work while reaffirming their determination to realising their assigned tasks.

Colonel Do Manh Ha from the Vietnam Naval High Command in the Southern region expressed his thank for the deep sentiments from the mainlanders, saying that their huge support has fueled the soldiers to embrace every hardship to protect the motherland’s sea and islands.

Vice Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party’s Committee Nguyen Thi Thu Ha spoke highly of the bravery of the officers and soldiers stationed at sea and islands region.

She stressed that Ho Chi Minh City would join the whole country to be a firm support for the nationwide effort to protect the country’s maritime sovereignty.
