After the rescue, Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Trong Pho, Political Director of Coast Guard Region 2 Command confirmed, “Rescue vessels and crewmembers in distress at sea is the responsibility of the coast guard in peacetime. Ship CSB 2015 has scored an outstanding feat of arm in celebration of the 70th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People Army, December 22nd…”

Major Truong Ba Long, Chief of Flotilla 202 who had directly commanded the rescue said, “On receiving orders, Ship CSB 2015 immediately raced against the time to the scene for rescue mission.”

Strong winds and limited visibility caused a lot of difficulties to the rescue team, especially in approaching the ship in distress. However, the officers and troops of Ship CSB 2015 reasonably adjusted speed and movements to conduct the rescue. During the rescue, due to the harsh weather conditions, the ropes broke for many times, forcing the coast guard region command to dispatch Ship CSB 6006 to the scene for reinforcement, towing Mai Hoa 25 safely ashore.

In joy, Nguyen Trong Minh, Captain of Ship Hoa Mai 25 said, “Without the help of the Coast Guard vessels, our ship would have sunk and we would have been in great danger. We are so much grateful to the coast guards for saving our lives!”

In the afternoon of December 14th, representatives of Coast Guard Region 2 Command handed over the ship and crewmembers to Da Nang Municipal Border Guard.
