Malaysia has finally been accepted as a full member of the MH17 criminal investigation team. Attorney-General, Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, said he received a notification accepting Malaysia as a full and equal member of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT). The joint inquiry team into the crash now includes the Netherlands, Ukraine, Australia, Belgium and Malaysia as well as other international partners. All 298 passengers and crew died when the Boeing 777-200ER, flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, was shot down on July 17th over conflict-ridden eastern Ukraine. Investigations and previous recovery operations have been delayed amid continued fighting between both sides in the conflict, despite a truce agreed in September./. |
