The development of industry has been creating significant profits for province such as high income and great job opportunities for Quang Ngai residents.
However, the province has been facing with the big shortage of housing for workers in recent years when the number of workers increases sharply annually in some industrial zones in province.
Quang Ngai-located Dung Quat Economic Zone, the country’s top five economic zones has been under fast development. It has so far lured 113 projects licensed with a registered investment of 8 billion USD, 73 out of them have been under operation creating jobs for 11.6 trillion workers.
However, the percentage of houses for workers built by investors just covers 46.48%, calculating for 3,000 out of 6,454 needed houses.
In two other industrial zones of province: Quang Phu Industrial Zone and Tinh Phong Industrial Zone own totally over 13,000 workers.
Currently, an employee’s apartment project with a total area of 13 hectare, supplying accommodation to around 500 workers, has been implemented by the Quang Ngai Investment, Construction, and Services Trading One Member Company Limited.
It is reported that nearly 5,800 workers in the province-located industrial zones have been in need of accommodation.
According to Mr. Mai Duc Chinh, Vice President of the Viet Nam Confederation of Labour in his meeting with Vice Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee Mr. Pham Nhu So and department leaders on Dec. 17, the demand for housing of workers in Quang Ngai province has been still lower than that in other provinces although Quang Ngai currently owns trillions of employees.
He added that as many as projects in Dung Quat Economic Zone and VSIP- Quang Ngai will complete construction in the upcoming time that is forecasted to employ at least 40 trillion workers after two years.
He expressed: “Quang Ngai will face big challenge of housing for workers if the provincial government does not make a plan right-now.”

As released by Vice Chairman Pham Nhu So, the construction of housing for workers has been the key concern of Quang Ngai government and enterprises as well.
Although some enterprises such as Doosan Vina, Binh Son Refining and Petroleum One Member Company Limited have departments for their workers, those are still limited as demanded.
