PANO – A delegation of young Vietnamese officers on December 15th visited Pune city-based College of Military Engineering, starting their six-day visit to several Indian units.
The delegation was warmly received by Major General Rajesh Tyagi, the college’s acting rector.

The host considered the visit a meaningful activity manifesting the long-lasting solidarity and relations between the two people and armies, which had been nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh and Indian Prime Minister J.Nehru.
He also expressed his admiration for the feats of arms of the Vietnamese people and the Vietnam People’s Army in the war for national liberation and the cause of national construction and development.

For his part, Lieutenant Colonel Dinh Quoc Hung, Deputy Head of the Military Youth Committee and Head of the Vietnamese delegation, briefed the host on typical achievements in training and combat readiness of young Vietnamese officers. Hung laid stress on the role of young officers in grassroots units in fulfilling difficult, risky and hazardous missions, in doing scientific research, and being involved in natural disaster prevention. Hung also shared experience on organizing activities with the participation of military youths and youth union members.
The Vietnamese officer hoped that the two countries’ young officers would maintain their exchanges in the time to come, so as to enhance the understanding and solidarity between the two armies and two people.
Also at the College of Military Engineering, the Vietnamese delegation were introduced to the school’s structure. They also toured some engineering-specialized training rooms, observed new engineering equipment, outdoor training grounds and other indoor multi-purpose training rooms. They learnt experiences on teaching and training officers, and extra-curricular activities for officers and cadets, such as overcoming consequences of unexploded ordnances and natural disasters, anti-terrorism, using and mastering advanced technical equipment.
In the evening the same day, both sides joined an artistic exchange at the college.
