PANO – Troops of Military Zone 5 have actively launched gratitude activities to support needy people, especially those who are living in rural areas and on islands, over the past time.
They are promptly preparing for presenting gifts to locals on the occasion of the coming Lunar New Year (Tet) festival in 2015.
The zone mobilized thousands of troops to help upgrade over 500 houses, construct nearly 220 gratitude houses, thousands of kilometers of roads and hundreds of sewers; presented around 700 breeding stock and tens of thousands of poultry; and provided free vocational training courses to 200 ethnic minority youths.
It also spent more than VND5 billion to grant 294 saving books and other gifts to policy beneficiaries, gave free check-ups and medicines to 33,000 people, and built five army and civilian clinics, as well as well responded to search and rescue, and fire prevention and fighting.
These activities contributed to brightening the image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers and helping locals enjoy a warm Tet festival.
