The ministry’s award presentation is held every five years to honour military and civilian writers, artists and reporters with outstanding literature, arts and press works on the armed forces and revolutionary war. Since its launch, the contest has attracted the active participation of writers, artists and reporters across the country with 200 literature pieces, 500 fine arts works, around 1,000 photos, 400 music compositions, 50 dances, 44 films and thousands of press articles, vividly reflecting the courage and talents of Vietnamese generals and troops who had bravely fought for national independence, served international obligation to help Cambodian people overthrow the Pol Pot regime, and have overcome difficulties to beautify the image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers in the new period.

The entries also covered the country’s hot issues like the fight to defend national sovereignty over sea and islands, foil hostile forces’ schemes and prevent wrongful viewpoints.

Among the participants, the People’s Army Newspaper (PAN) actively participated in the contest with many articles and photo reportages about the image of Uncle Ho’s soldiers in wartime and peacetime. Among 185 awarded works, PAN bagged two A, one B and one C prizes.

To have such quality works, PAN’s reporters-soldiers went to mountainous and border areas and islands to reflect the silent sacrifices of those who are defending the nation.

The awards are an incentive for all writers, artists and reporters to have more and more good articles in the future.
