With the height of 3,049 metres, ranking only after Fansipan (3,413 metres), Pu Ta Leng mountain in the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau is known as the second top in Indochina.

Belonging to Hoang Lien Son mountain range in Ta Leng commune, Phong Tho district, ‘Pu Ta Leng’ means mountains in H’Mong ethnic minority language. To conquer the mountain, tourists can come to Ho Thau commune and start their journey with local residents. The initial part of the journey goes along with a channel in Pho village which is rather flat with wild flowers on both sides.

On the first day, tourists mainly go along streams to the upper reaches with high slopes and big stones. However, besides the slopes, there are streams that present an ideal resting place for climbers.
