PANO – The US-based GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety (VARANS under the Ministry of Science and Technology). Mr. David Durham, Senior Vice Director of GEH and Mr. Vuong Huu Tan, Chief of VARANS chaired the event.
The MoU aims to improve the professional expertise and technical and technological knowledge of steam nuclear reactor for the nuclear staff of Vietnam. Under the MoU, GEH would provide capacity training in the field of nuclear safety analysis for VARANS.
This is the third MoU that GEH signed with Vietnam. Last year, the agency signed MoUs on nuclear technical and technological cooperation with Hanoi University of Technology and Electric Power University.
Vietnam is heading for generating 10,000 MW of nuclear electricity by 2030. And as the world leading nuclear reactor provider, GEH is confident to help Vietnam quickly achieve its set target.
