Vietnam’s national rescue center is enlisting support from Malaysia to search for five fishers who have gone missing after their boat sank in the latter’s waters Saturday.

A source from the National Search and Rescue Committee said they have asked the Vietnamese foreign ministry to inform Malaysia agencies of the incident, Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reported.

The boat from Tien Giang Province in southern Vietnam sank on Saturday afternoon with six people aboard.

A team from the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) were sailing nearby and managed to save one of them.

The National Search and Rescue Committee has also asked the Vietnam MRCC to enlist support from their Malaysian counterpart in the search. It also called for help from fishing boats in the area.

The cause of the accident is not revealed yet.
