The Duc-Viet (Germany-Vietnam) 4 semi-boarding school, located in Quan Hoa District, was handed to local authorities during a ceremony held by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper and the Vietnamesisches Studienwerk in der BRD e.V (VSW) the same day.

The VSW, literally known as the Vietnam Study and Work in Germany, covers for VND450 million (US$20,971) out of the total VND550 million ($25,750) cost of the facility, whereas the district authorities account for the remaining.

Tuoi Tre and the district administration broke ground on the school in February.

The facility, spanning 200 square meters with five rooms, can serve 50 students from Thai and Muong minority groups of the district’s middle and high schools.

Also at the inauguration ceremony, the VSW handed 50 instant noodle cardboard boxes, 50 stainless steel food containers to the students, while their teachers were gifted with water boilers, books and other gifts.

Many students in Quan Hoa have to stay in unsafe, poor-condition makeshift houses near their schools to pursue education. Their hardship was covered on Tuoi Tre in March last year.
