This year, the scholarships will go to 30 excellent individuals. The recipients will receive full tuition fees, return air fares, an establishment allowance upon arrival in New Zealand, and a living allowance to cover daily costs.

New Zealand ASEAN Scholarships are a great opportunity for Vietnamese students to earn a highly valued and internationally recognized tertiary qualification, says New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam Haike Manning.

“New Zealand and Vietnam are celebrating 40 years of friendship this year and education is one of the key priorities of the bilateral relationship of the two countries. Providing postgraduate scholarships to Vietnamese citizens is a demonstration of the commitment to support Vietnam’s efforts in human resource development.”

While applicants from all fields are encouraged to apply, priority is given to students specializing in areas which are New Zealand’s comparative advantages and those that are priorities for the Vietnamese Government, including agriculture and rural development, environment, disaster risk management, public sector management, and private sector development.

Applications are close on June 30 this year for study beginning in early 2016.

The New Zealand – ASEAN Scholarships are a regional initiative providing post-graduate awards for courses of study that align with sectors of relevance for New Zealand and ASEAN.

Since 1994, 185 Vietnamese individuals have received New Zealand Government scholarships.
