(VOV) -Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State at the US Department of State’s Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Scot Marciel on March 16 received Public Security Minister General Tran Dai Quang who is leading a high-level public security ministry delegation on a working visit to the US.
At the reception, the US official highlighted the Vietnam delegation’s visit as a good start for celebratory activities regarding the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations, providing a firm underpinning for enhanced comprehensive partnership and paving the way for the US visit by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and other senior leaders.
Minister Quang expressed his pleasure at the growing cooperation in economics, crime prevention and control and security- defence, especially since both nations established a comprehensive partnership in July 2013.
“Vietnam always pursues the unwavering foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification of relations, proactive and active international integration.
The country hails the US’ efforts to step up cooperation with Asia-Pacific nations including Vietnam for the sake of peace, stability and prosperity in the region on the basis of respect for the UN Charter, international law, political institutions, independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries.
The same day, Minister Tran Dai Quang and his delegation visited the Vietnam Embassy.
