Hanoi, March 19 (VNA) – The Prime Minister has decided to set up a Central Steering Committee on Disaster Prevention tasked with organising and managing projects tackling the causes and impacts of natural disasters.
According to the decision, the head of the committee will be the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, while the deputy heads include one Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, one deputy head of the Government Office, and one standing deputy head of the National Committee for Search and Rescue.
Leading officials from ministries and Government offices will form the remainder of the committee.
The committee is tasked with introducing new disaster strategies and speeding up the implementation of existing ones.
It also has the right to decide on urgent solutions and to mobilise resources from ministries, Government offices, organisations and individuals to surmount the aftermath of disasters, and to carry out disaster prevention activities.
