Officers also detained four people, including a Chinese Vietnamese and three local people, for organizing such unlawful border crossing trips.

On Sunday morning, police officers discovered Vu Thi Bon, 60, a Chinese national from Guangzhou, China, trying to bring 14 people out of Vietnam in two cars during a surprise inspection of the two vehicles.

At the police station, Bon said that she coordinated the border-crossing attempt for the locals so that they could go to China and work there. She remains in custody for further investigation.

Vu Thi Bon is married to a Chinese national and has lived in the neighboring country since 1978. She entered Vietnam legally on February 5, 2015, according to her passport.

On Friday, the Dam Ha District police also prevented a group of three who were trying to get 75 locals across the border in two vehicles.

After getting caught red-handed, the three organizers, Lau Ung Cau, 23, Tang A Sam, 18, and Duong A Si, 27, confessed that they were leading the two cars to the province of Lang Son to cross the border.

The investigating police agency has decided to detain the three people and continue the probe into the case.
