Through historians’ evaluations and generals’ stories, the documentary will help viewers understand the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam, its sound instruction and creativeness in using the political, military, and diplomatic power to liberate the South and reunify the country. It also reflects the development of Ho Chi Minh City over the past 40 years.

People’s Artist Senior Colonel Le Thi, the documentary’s director said that finding historical witnesses was the most challenging task for the film crew, because after 40 years, some of the witnesses died while others can not remember the developments of the campaigns which they had participated in.

He added: “Our efforts were paid off as we found reliable witnesses for the documentary.”

The documentary is seen as gratitude of present generation to those who had sacrificed for national independence and freedom.
