PANO – A repatriation ceremony for the remains of US servicemen who died during the Vietnam War was held at Da Nang International Airport, Da Nang city, on April 16th.
The Vietnamese representative handed over to the US side two boxes of remains which were found by joint teams during the 118th Joint Field Operation from February to April 2015.
Earlier, experts of the two sides examined and believed that the remains might be associated with US servicemen missing during the war. However, the remains need to be more carefully examined in Hawaii.
At the event, a US Government representative expressed deep gratitude to and high appreciation of the steadfast humanitarian policy, good-will and the increasingly efficient cooperation of the Vietnamese Government and people.
The search for the remains of US servicemen missing during the war in Vietnam is humanitarian cooperation between the Vietnamese and US Governments. This is the 134th hand-over of American missing servicemen’s remains since 1973.
