(VEN) – A delegation of 11 French businesses will visit Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from May 27-29 and attend a workshop on urban railways on May 28 in Ho Chi Minh City within the framework of the France-Vietnam Year.
The guests will also meet Vietnamese businesses to speak about proper urban transport solutions for Vietnam.
The urban railways workshop to be held by UBIFRANCE Vietnam will offer an opportunity for French companies to present their technology and share points of view with Vietnamese policy makers and professionals following two themes – building and utilizing urban transport infrastructure and urban planning for sustainable development.
With an increasing population and high-speed urbanization Vietnam needs to set up a modern transport system including urban railways.
Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have drawn-up their transport networks focusing on urban railways. Four of the eight urban rail routes under Hanoi’s transport plan are under construction. Ho Chi Minh City has planned seven urban railways, one tramway and two monorails.
Developing urban railways is part of the Vietnamese-French partnership including the trial French-funded Urban Railway No.3 Project in Hanoi./.
