The Government office has sent a document to the Khanh Hoa People’s Committee announcing Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan’s direction on delaying the organising of the International Yacht Festival to July 2014, reported the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

In early 2012, the Khanh Hoa People’s Committee asked permission from the Government and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organise the event from July 11 to 15, 2012 in the central city of Nha Trang, themed “Five continents gather on Nha Trang – Vietnam”. The festival is expected to have a total expenditure of VND55 billion and to attract the participation of 33 yacht clubs from 22 countries. By June, 2012, the Government approved the proposal. However, the Khanh Hoa People’s Committee requested to postpone the event until June, 2013.

The International Yacht Festival is scheduled to take part in four days with a series of activities, including a yacht exhibition, a parade around the Hon Tre Island, a concert about Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago, a fund raising ceremony to support Vietnamese fishermen and other cultural and sporting events./.
