The Tay Nguyen (Central Highlands) province of Kon Tum has revived 19 special festivals celebrated by its ethnic minority residents.
According to the province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, these include the Chong o bon h’lu (New Rice Festival) of the B’rau community and the M’ne (Thanksgiving Festival) of the Xo Dang community.
The festivals have been revived with the help of village elderly people, officials said, adding that these will be organised every year.

Diseases stalk Mekong orchards
Disease outbreaks have affected many orchards in the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta, significantly reducing output. Local authorities have supported affected farmers with dozens of billion of dong in assistance to control diseases and protect their orchards.
In Ben Tre Province, worms have attacked many grapefruit orchards and the fruits. About 12,000ha of various kinds of fruits in Vinh Long Province have also been attacked by worms.
More than 4,200ha of longan in Tien Giang Province and 4,100ha in Dong Thap have been infected with the witches’ broom disease, which inhibits fruiting.

Uncle Ho’s moral example contest goes online
An online contest on studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example was launched in Ha Noi on Tuesday.
Contest organisers said they hope it would help the youth become politically active and improve their revolutionary morality.
The contest will last until August 10. Contestants will have to write essays and answer multiple choice questions.
