On June 24, the HCM City’s Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department co-operated with the local Department of Industry and Trade and HCM City Power Corporation to inspect local petrol stations.


The inspection of Petrol Station 18 owned by Materials-Petroleum JSC on Vo Thi Sau Street revealed several fire prevention violations.


The inspection team issued a fine of VND7.5 million (USD360) and asked the station’s owner to prepare and install more fire prevention measures.


Deputy Head of HCM City’s Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department Colonel Tran Thanh Chau said they would propose to the local authorities that all petrol shops and stations install automatic or semi-automatic fire extinguishers. Fire alarm system with direct connections to the fire department would also be mandatory.

A petrol station in Haiphong City was forced to shut down on June 24 after the inspection team discovered several fire prevention violations. 95 stations have failed to meet safety and operational standards in Haiphong City.
