Blind Japanese Pianist to perform in Hanoi, HCMC

Blind Japanese pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii will give performances at the Opera House in Hanoi on June 19 and at the Conservatory of Music in Ho Chi Minh City on June 21.














The 25-year-old Japanese classical pianist and composer Nobuyuki Tsujii has been blind since birth. He began his formal study of piano at the age of two and debuted with Century Orchestra in Osaka at the age of 10.


He won many musical prizes at Japanese and international piano contests, such as the first prize at the All Japan Music Competition of Blind Students by the Tokyo Helen Keller Association; the gold prize at the Piano Teachers’ National Association (PTNA) Piano Competition; and the Critics’ Award at the 15th International Frederik Chopin Piano Competition held in Warsaw in Poland.


He is the first Japanese to win the Gold Medal in the 13th Van Cliburn International Piano Contest in the US in 2009.
