(VEN) – During the formation and development period of PetroVietnam Ca Mau Fertilizer Company Limited (PVCFC), the company has continually moved forward, helping local farmers benefit from improved product quality and service.

As a national key project, the Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant was carried out to meet the demand for Nitrogenous fertilizer in agricultural production, provide enough urea fertilizer to the market and contributing to the country’s food security.
On January 30 2012, the Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant officially turned out its first commercial products and providing fertilizer supplies for agricultural development in the Mekong Delta region and throughout the country. The US$780 million project was completed nearly US$200 million under budget, underscoring the high efficiency of the implementation of this project.
Since its operation, the plant has continuously produced over 800,000 tonnes of high quality urea fertilizer for the Mekong Delta, the country’s most productive rice growing region and other localities, helping to save hundreds of millions of US dollars from importing fertilizer.
The dramatic change was also underlined by impressive data when Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant was handed over to PVCFC. Only one year since the hand-over, the production and consumption output and revenue of PVCFC have seen significant consecutive growth. In 2012 alone, the production and consumption output of urea fertilizer reached 481,000 and 444,000 tonnes respectively, earning revenues of over VND4 trillion.
Talking about these successes, Deputy Chief State Auditor Cao Tan Khong on a working visit to the Ca Mau Gas, Electricity, Fertilizer project management board said, “The efficiency of the project is worth recognizing. This project not only was finished under budget but it also had the earliest accounts balanced.”
Supporting farmer dreams
Ca Mau fertilizer products are produced from natural gas on modern production lines and equipment. By adopting appropriate business strategies, the Ca Mau fertilizer brand has become increasingly well known among farmers in the Mekong Delta, who are no longer worry about fertilizer shortages and price speculation.
PVCFC Director Le Manh Hung said in the company’s long-term development strategy, it would continue to support farmers. As part of this strategy the company will develop a sales policy aimed to build service and price competitive products that will satisfy farmers. The company also expected Ca Mau fertilizers to help farmers improve their livelihoods.
At present, PVCFC has nearly 800 employees, including experts and engineers. The company is building a streamlined and highly specialized model and organizational structure. With such a streamlined workforce, in addition to at the plant which is currently operating at 100 percent capacity, providing over 2,300 tonnes of fertilizer to the market every day, PVCFC is also promoting scientific research activities and research plans, and implementing projects and technical initiatives to improve product quality and develop new products to meet the diverse needs of different types of crops./.
