A competitive examination will be held early next year to recruit the position of head of the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam, said Nguyen Hong Truong, Deputy Minister of Transport.

Such a recruitment will be the first to be applied by the ministry to select the most qualified candidate, Truong said.

The ministry has assigned its personnel organization department to build the recruitment plan on the basis of consulting similar methods that have been applied by the Ministry of Interior and the Party Committee of northern Quang Ninh Province.

Candidates for the exam are required to be not more than 45 years old, have 5-10 years experience working in the transport sector, and have experienced positions at the level of department head or above.

In related news, the Prime Minister on May 25 appointed Le Dinh Tho, head of the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam, to the post of Deputy Minister of Transport.

Recently, Transport Minister Dinh La Thang has promoted Nguyen Duc Thang, deputy head of the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam to the post of acting head of the agency to replace Tho.

However, Thang will reach his retirement age in about a year and a half.
