On June 24, a photography exhibition titled “Indian cultural vestiges in Vietnam” opened at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal state, India.

The exhibition has attracted a large number of visitors, including state officials, writers, poets, social and cultural activists, and media workers.

Governor of West Bengal State, M. K. Narayanan, addressed the opening of the exhibition, praising the whole-hearted project of Geetesh Sharma, the President of the India-Vietnam Solidarity Committee in the state of West Bengal.

He stressed the exhibition aims to help the younger generations of both countries recognise their cultural similarities, contributing to the consolidation of India-Vietnam relations.

The seven-day exhibition showcases photographs focusing on the historical traces of the ancient kingdom of Champa in the central region of Vietnam, stretching from Quang Nam to Binh Thuan provinces, such as temples, towers and idols showing a link between the ancient cultures of India and Vietnam nearly 2,000 years ago.

The photographs were took by Geetesh Sharma, and the Committee Secretary General Kusum Jain during their visits to Vietnam.

Speaking at the exhibition, Sharma said in the great tradition of friendly relations between India and Vietnam, he visited and recorded the images of the neglected traces, keeping in mind the historic milestones in Vietnam – India relations./.
