(VEN) – With a high demand for consumer goods such as wood, wood furniture, garments, footwear and coffee, Australia continued to be a potential export market for Vietnam.
Statistics from the General Department of Customs show that Vietnamese exports to Australia reached US$1.26 billion in the first five months of this year, a 31.3 percent increase from a year ago. These included crude oil amounting to more than US$552.5 million, and telephones and telephone accessories US$207.9 million, a 90.2 percent increase. Other exports also increased significantly such as coffee growing by 27.7 percent, cashew nuts up by 7.8 percent, textiles and garments up by 9.1 percent, footwear up by 14.4 percent, plastic ware up by 29 percent, and wood and wood furniture up by 5.2 percent.
Experts said that Australian consumers are fairly easy-going and have many choices in terms of price and quality of imported goods. To promote exports to this market, Vietnamese businesses need to meet requirements in terms of quantity, quality, food hygiene and safety, and price, while effectively implementing their marketing strategies./.
