Based on the performance of the program in 2011 – 2012 period, Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade has assigned Hanoi Trade Promotion Center (HTPC) to join force with Reed Tradex exhibition organizer to organize “Vietnam Manufacturing Expo 2013″ (VME 2013 – Vietnam’s Most Comprehensive Show for Manufacturing and Supporting Industries) and “Industrial Components & Subcontracting Vietnam 2013″ (ICSV 2013 – Vietnam’s Most Comprehensive Sourcing Platform for Industrial Parts and Components) to facilitate enterprises in seeking opportunities for cooperation and investment through trade promotion events to become partners, customers and participants in the supply chain for ASEAN, Japan, and international assemblers from September 4-6, 2013 at I.C.E Hanoi.

What are key focuses of Hanoi in developing its industrial sector in recent years? Currently, as highly attractive investment destination for international manufacturers in automotive, electronics, and other supporting industries, Vietnam has been eager to improve supporting industries to lure more foreign direct investment (FDI) and boost local high-value-added industrial products. In particular, Hanoi is one of the cities with much potential to develop and deliver industrial parts and components as the city has been implementing various measures to encourage the development of supporting industries and key industrial products.
To continue to support industrial enterprises and promote the city’s supporting industries, Hanoi’s People Committee recently approved a key Trade Promotion Program 2013. With mission to consult, plan and run projects for Hanoi’s trade promotion, HTPC has been providing support to the capital’s industry and commerce since its establishment as a unit of state founded in 2009 and was placed directly under Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade – Hanoi People’s Committee.
Could you introduce more about ICSV 2013?
Vietnam Manufacturing Expo 2013 will feature over 200 exhibiting companies which come from around the world to showcase the latest of their innovations, solutions, and services to over 10,000 industrialists from across Vietnam. Meanwhile, ICSV 2013 is a good opportunity for over 30 part makers in Hanoi to learn and improve their management skill, to access the state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies, equipment, and machines on the purpose to improve product quality to reach the ASEAN and international production levels while investors’ confidence in Vietnam’s manufacturing sector will get a boost from meeting quality suppliers at the show.
Government and investors have chosen VME 2013 to be a main attraction to co-locate three more events with specialized contents and themes to drive the growth and potential for supporting industries in Vietnam as the sourcing and matchmaking platforms. They include “The 5th Vietnam-Japan Exhibition on Supporting Industries in Hanoi” (SIE 2013), with collaboration from Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Hanoi Representative Office and Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade), where 50 Japanese exhibitors will display accessories they expect to purchase in Vietnam and 50 Vietnamese exhibitors will show their-made products they want to sell to potential buyers; “The Japanese Monozukuri Technology Exhibition” where 45 Japanese companies will bring to Vietnam its high technology products in various fields and robots, organized by Japanese Embassy in Vietnam to celebrate 40 years of Japan-Vietnam diplomatic relations; and “The Electronic Assembly 2013.”
What are the main industrial products of Hanoi displayed at the show?
Hanoi’s manufacturers will display the city’s key industrial products and supporting industry products. They are machinery and spare parts for automobiles, motorcycles, railway, and waterway, electronics and telecommunication, rubber and plastic products, machinery and equipment for power plants, electric cables, mould, axis, washer, and other products for industrial and civil purposes.
What do Hanoi manufacturers expect from the show?
HTPC believes that the current development trend could provide huge opportunities to local part producers in further participating in the global product chain. I hope this collaboration will create a unique opportunity for the manufacturers to network and trade directly with assemblers to increase business opportunities and extend export markets. Moreover, enterprises can take advantages of the resources and create better conditions for the businesses in the supporting industrial sector. In addition, they will have access to the latest technology and manufacturing techniques in the region.
