The Ho Chi Minh City chapter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) plans this year to raise at least 25 billion VND (1.2 million USD) for sea and island promotion campaigns and care for officers and soldiers stationed there.
The target was revealed by the chapter at a conference in Ho Chi Minh City on June 28 to sum up the mobilisation for the fund named “for the beloved Truong Sa archipelago and Vietnam’s front line” in 2012 and discuss the implementation of the programme this year.
To reach this goal, the HCM City chapter will coordinate with the media to increase information on seas and islands, visit and present gifts to children of officers and soldiers who are defending the nation’s sacred part.
It will organise programmes mobilising material resources to be sent to Truong Sa as well as honouring organisations and individuals who have donated to the fund.
The city-launched campaign has received support of people from all walks of life. Last year, the fund raised 16 billion VND from agencies, collectives and individuals in the city.-VNA
