The National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center has said that a hot westerly low pressure zone is gaining in strength which will lead to widespread hot weather conditions across the northern and central region by this weekend.
Average temperatures will be 35-36 degrees celsius in the northern plains and midland areas. North-central and mid-central provinces will see temperatures hover around 36-38 degrees, which may go even higher in some places.
Hot weather will stay until tomorrow night, June 9, when a cold front is expected to move south to cause medium to heavy rainfall across some northern provinces.
The central provinces from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien-Hue will see some thunderstorms and scattered showers from June 10.
Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta are being affected by progressive southwesterly winds with cloudy skies and rain in the afternoons.
