HCM CITY (VNS)- Viet Nam’s chance of winning the title at the Asian Football Confederation girls’ regional championships this year declined after the team lost one-nil to Myanmar in the third match yesterday.
The only goal was scored by Su Myat Noe who rattled the top of the net with a powerful shot after the ball emerged from a scramble in front of the net.
Despite the loss, Viet Nam still rank second with six points from two wins, but its chance of winning is extremely slim. Thailand rank first with nine points from three wins.
The Philippines are third and Myanmar fourth with six points, but rank behind Viet Nam because of the difference in goals.
The tournament, which features six teams from Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam, play in a round-robin format with final games taking place on Sunday. – VNS
