LAM DONG ― About 42 small hydro-electric projects in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong will not go ahead.

They have been excluded from the province’s small hydro-power plant development because of their negative impact on the economy and residents’ lives.

The provincial People’s Committee is also checking the feasibility of six other small projects and two big hydro projects, Dong Nai 6 and Dong Nai 6A in the area.

The province plans to build a total of 79 small hydro projects with 600MW capacity in river valleys Da Dang, Da Nhim, Krong No, Da Huoai, La Nga, Dong Nai, Luy and Quao. Nearly 40 have been funded so far. ― VNS
