In the first half this year, the Republic of Korea greeted more than 5.4 million foreign arrivals, a year-on-year rise of 1.8 percent, according to the office of Korean National Tourism Administration in Vietnam.
Of this, tourist arrivals from Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines rose, while those from Vietnam dropped slightly by 3.2 percent.
In recent years, about 700,000 RoK tourists came Vietnam each year. On the contrary, the number of Vietnamese tourists to RoK reached nearly 100,000.
According to the Korean National Tourism Administration, Vietnam is always a potential market for the country’s tourism industry.
Currently, there are 10 direct flights between Vietnam and RoK that offer opportunities for the tourism industry of the two countries to boost cooperation. In 2013, RoK aims to welcome 12.5 million foreign tourists./.
