Nguyen Trong Nhan, 14, and Huynh Trong nghia, 13, in Tien Giang province’s Chau Thanh District were caught in the act by local police for stoning and hazarding cars travelling through Trung Luong Highway on June 6 night.
According to local police, Nghia and Nhan were arrested when they stood on the overpass No.10 crossing the highway and kept throwing rocks at cars traveling on the road.
Early this month, numerous car drivers complained that their cars were attacked by stones when they travelled through Trung Luong Highway.
“There can be serious accidents if cars running at a high speed of 80-100km/h are stoned,” Nguyen Huu Minh, a driver whose car was stoned stressed.
At the police office, the two admitted they stoned 7 trucks and cars on the night. The two then explained the act with a stunning reason that they like the sounds when the rocks hitting cars’ glass window.
Trong and Nghia also pointed out two other teenagers including Tran Ngoc Son and Tran Ngoc Le who used to entice them to stone the cars. However, Son and Le denied the act.
Because the violators are all teenagers, Chau Thanh Police only gave them warnings and then released them to families and schools for discipline.
In the past few years, throwing rocks at trains was also an issue of concern, not only for the authorities but also people travelling on railway.
