(VOV) – Both Vietnam and Argentina have enormous potential for further strengthening their mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas.
The view was shared by Vietnamese and Argentinean diplomats at their recent annual political consultation in capital Buenos Aires.
The Vietnamese delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, and the Argentinean delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Antonio Zuain.
Zuain expressed Argentina’s desire to increase cooperation with Vietnam in tertiary education, wind power, bio-fuels, natural gas, and forensic anthropology.
Meanwhile, Son proposed that the government, ministries and agencies of Argentina create favourable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to invest in their country, especially in telecommunications.
They agreed to prepare for signing government-level agreements on telecommunications, double tax avoidance, and crime prevention, as well as ministerial-level agreements on trade & investment promotion, and a cultural cooperation programme for 2013-2015.
They said Vietnam and Argentina will work closely at international and multilateral forums such as the United Nations, and the World Trade Organisation (WTO) to protect the legitimate rights of the two countries and other developing economies.
They said the current global economic recession is creating a plenty of opportunity for developing countries to bolster relations within the South-South cooperation framework.
During his stay from June 23-25, Son met with Foreign Minister Hector Timerman, Communications Secretary Norberto Berner, and Foreign Trade Secretary Beatriz Paglieri.
The Vietnamese side learnt from Argentina’s experience in joining the multilateral trade system, international integration, free trade agreement negotiations, and settlement of trade disputes in WTO.
